This is one of my Sykes Pickavant clamps - I do have the matching pair

The single hook fixes to the spring with the little clamp screw and is the threaded hook. The twin hooks are free on the threaded screw and swivel so that they always clamp on to the spring nice and snug. Even this design doesn't always allow the clamp to sit squarely on the spring but is always tight and snug.

Had them for 30 odd years and wouldn't use anything else. They were expensive when I bought them but have paid for themselves over and over again.

I like those. They look like the ones designed so that you can compress the spring on the car if required.

Really i would get some nice ones if you can afford it.
Exactly what happened to me at the weekend! I ended up using 4 compressors to get the spring to compress straight. Had one compressor ping off and luckily only bruised my thumb, I always do that kind of job at arms length and pointing away from myself!

Thanks guys. Think I'll remove the strut, then take it to the garage up the road, give him a fiver & get him to replace the mount.
