You all missed the point
You all missed the point of the BBC programme. These continental trucks must have passed through countless other countries before getting to the UK. So how come everyone else is ignoring it and not applying EEC rules. Oh I forgot Britain obeys every rule and the others ignore them ...silly me.

Hi,
Quote:
That is usually the local sheep - I mean populace...! However, one possible way to reduce this, and to shunt the responsibility off the government would be to force eurostar and ferry companies to ensure that any vehicle that it carries meets with the vehicle conditions of the destination country. Failure to meet the conditions results in loss of fare. Police finding/catching a vehicle results in the vehicle being returned to port for immediate return and the carrier being given heafty fine.. Gawd, I'll make a politician yet!!! Des. . .

Money
Yet again with this Government, if they feel the need to raise money then look no further than the motorist. From a personal point of view, when they show the "Chelsea taxi's" on tv to high light what mum is driving to take the kids to school in, I have always thought that if this is what mum drives, BMW X5, Range Rovers, Shoguns, Lexus etc, what do the dad's drive? If people in Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Richmond can afford to own and run these sort of cars for the mum's to use as a run around, then to charge them £25+ for parking will probably mean nothing to them, it will just hit the likes of us.
Sorry for rant. V70 driver |
