Wow - that is a hell of a lot of dosh on insurance.
If it was me, I'd sell the volvo and buy a cheaper to insure runabout, build up a couple of years NCB, get 'older' and spend the money I've saved on booze and takeaways. Just my thoughts, mind.

Try classic insurance- I've had good luck with Lancaster and Footman James. I just got my renewal for my 245- £185 per YEAR comp. and £104 per year for the Allegro- unlimited mileage and business use on both with agreed value. I am 33 years old though, but do have 3 pts on my license.
I remember when I first came to the UK in 2003, I had a 2 litre Saab 99, a Citroen XM, CX, and Merc 300SE at various times. Even with a 'new UK' license, I was only paying around £500/year with classic insurance. Thats about £40-50 month. If your Volvo is too new, perhaps think about buying an older 940- pre 1995 so its over 15 years old. But call the classic companies first- they're very flexible with their underwriting, and can usually work something out. Mention that you're in the Volvo club too- I get discounts for my various car clubs. IIRC I got a better discount one year by using my Allegro club membership on a Mercedes! |

oh- and really think about how many miles you do a year- you can save a bundle if you go for a limited mileage policy.
