  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

My turbo only whined after I overheated it.

When I replaced with a refurb, that one didn't whine.

Maybe it has just run in nicely. Surely he'd be complaining of power issues if it had stopped working.

Exactly Tony. If the turbo wasn't spooling at all, the car would take an age to accelerate and the drop in down would be pretty large.

Whistle sound made by turbo means its time to think of saving for another one.

On my 740 turbo is silent and thank God for that.

No it doesn't

You can hear the whistle on that vid and the turbo was brand new. it just means it working hard.

Could also mean there are cracks in the manifold or turbo housing.
Not necessarily an issue but will need remedying at some point in time..

I dont think I have seen a standard exhaust manifold without cracks in it.

May I suggest you do likewise? Try with different rates of pedal pressing, too fast and it spins up almost instantly, same as all the other noisy ancillaries. You need to get it to vary its speed without much engine speed change.
