OK, rightly or wrongly, I have sent off for a 9143070 propshaft from a Swedish dealer. Within a week or so it will be clear whether or not it is the right one for my car.
My thanks for all the helpful comments. Martin |

You can find much information in the Volvo parts manuals. Bit of a study, but basically all you need.

The propshaft arrived yesterday. This morning, the garage reports that the front of the propshaft that arrived matches the M90 gearbox. But the rear of the propshaft does not match the car's back axle. So the nightmare is not yet over... |

OK. I went to the garage and they showed me that the prop shaft I had been sent...
1. Was not for a car with an M90 gearbox like mine (despite being sold as for an M90 and being marked in yellow paint "M90" on the propshaft that was sent). The propshaft sent was for a gearbox needing three bolts to attach the propshaft. M90 needs four bolts. 2. The centre bearing was completely knackered and visibly falling apart so unusable even if it had been the correct one for the car. The garage is going to try 360beast's suggestion and swap the rear of the duff one that arrived with the rear of the one that was on my car. But with no certainty that will solve the problem. Meanwhile I'll email the supplier to request either a correct propshaft or a complete refund. Martin |

You would have to check if this came from an M90 or not |
