It doesn't have them but no idea why. Might have been at a previous owners request or because they lost the key and thought buying normal bolts were cheaper. Gonna have another look in spare wheel well just in case.

Sorry to hear of your problem - and absolutely amazed! I know that these days anything not nailed or welded down does run the risk of being pinched, but to go to the trouble of taking calipers and disks off outside the rightful owner's house....!
I had a neighbour some years ago, who had his virtually new Ford Orion 1600E stolen for it's leather interior. The b******s tried to take it one night and set off the alarm, so legged it when my neighbour came out to check. Then they came back a few nights later and had the car away. It was found the following morning, minus the interior, burnt out. But at least they didn't do the deed on his doorstep! I will have to see about wiring my car to the mains, since I'm only up the road from you in Hornchurch, and there's no telling what else the buggers could be looking for! As regards locking bolts, I've got the McGard variety that came with the car. I've read and agree with the posts on here, and cringe everytime I have to take them off, waiting for them to shear or shatter. However, I think you're better with them than not given the theft problem. Overall though, any locking bolt can be removed with the right tools and knowledge. Some bolts are more difficult to remove than others, and as far as this goes I think the McGard ones are of the more difficult type. Overall, I think locking bolts will stop a casual opportunist, and deter the more "professional" by virtue of the noise created when using tools. I hope you find something that fits the bill, and don't suffer this sort of problem again. John |

Firstly, sympathy to Anadinolin for the trouble he's in, I'm afraid I can't make any good suggestions on wheel nuts, if I felt the need for them I'd personally be looking for something unique to confuse the theives as it sounds like they knew what they were doing and probably have the tools to defeat the usual locking nuts.
I thought it a bit odd that another thread should come up with someone wanting locking nuts as most threads on locking nuts are how to remove damaged ones and why we should bin them and use ordinary nuts, the previous thread in the past few weeks was of a pensioner in East Anglia having his wheels nicked which most of us would think was a thing of the past. It must be an indication of the times we're living in that this sort of thing is surfacing again. As they left the wheels it does sound like the discs and calipers were nicked to order rather than an opportunist theft so perhaps any locking nuts would have merely slowed them done or caused them to nick the whole car just for the brakes and leave the rest burning in a back alley. In terms of odd thefts I once had the carburettor taken from my 1.1 Fiesta while it was parked at the back of my house, even more bizarre as I got one quite easily from a scrappy for just £10, hardly worth the chance of getting caught you might think.

Anadinolin - really sorry to hear about this! As others have said it must be theft to order, but really, what is it all coming to??
Can't specifically recommend lockers - I have the genuine Volvo ones on all of my cars (McGard) but I am always very wary of the problems that can be encountered. Indeed, only 3 of the 480's wheels have them because one chewed and I had to remove it by another method. It just seems better to have them than not: at least they'll put some sort of obstruction in the way, even if only more so for a casual thief. Hope you can get sorted soon. David |

I would get a set of the new volvo type , they have been out about 3 years now and no problems so far , the wavy pattern is around the edge so much larger diameter and less stressed , they have a hexagonal chrome nut which spins so look better too ohh .. and cheaper ... Made in Italy ..

That's bloody terrible!
How can someone want to steal something for a 400? Bloody pikeys! Here are some genuine ones for our cars, what I have on mine. Or just get any Locking bolts with a thread of 12 x 1,25. Don't forget, different models will take different bolts.

That's a disgrace mate, although very, very strange!
It's not like they're even really worth much, certainly not worth paying a bunch of scrotes to get them! TBH, this does lead me to the conclusion that a local 400 owner's had his eye on yours for a while Do you see any knocking about?? I once had a Mk2 Cavalier SRi, went working away for a couple of weeks and came back to find my cylinder head missing and some other rarer items like electric mirrors, 6-pod clocks etc. I found a long time later that I knew the lad that did it and he had a lower specced Cavalier at the time, although I didn't know... Funnily enough, I've not seen him since, probably for the best!! Hope you get is sorted soon mate, don't let the b@stards grind you down!! Steve

Anadinolin, I'm not that surprised, with it being Essex and how tough things are financially at the moment. You've only got to google: 'car parts stolen to order' to see it's not just cats they nick
Have you reported it to the plod? You never know, they might catch thieves stealing parts to order and then tie them to your time & area from cctv? Bloody scumbags, they don't care how much inconvenience and expense they put other people to

That's crazy. Not heard of something so...easily obtained elsewhere...being stolen before. It's hardly a common car, so keep eyes peeled...
If it's any consolation, there's seems to be a community pest where my girlfriend lives who makes a habit of kicking off wing mirrors on his way back from the pub...and my D5 got it last week. Luckily I just need a glass, and the rest clipped back together...but if they folded and had BLIS, it'd be another story. Of course if they folded, they might still be in one piece! I wouldn't mind meeting this upstanding citizen down a dark alley... cheers James
