3 of mine got wheel worm at 18 months old (20k miles). Volvo agreed to a free refurb or option of 40% off brand new replacements. I went for the refurb. They look beautiful now. Just use Carplan shampoo and now use Autoglym alloy wheel sealer.

That’s pretty poor, mine are unmarked bar a couple of stone chips on the black parts after 3 years. Ive kept mine coated with Bilt Hamber Auto balm and they usually only get washed with water and a soft brush.

Occasionally used devils blood on them which is similar to ironX/ Iron out.

Had an AMG E class and despite the same care they quickly got the worm as the water found it way under the lacquer.

I've just had my front wheels off the car today and given them a good clean. I bought some Turtle Wax Redline @ £5.60 per spray bottle, very economical to use, being discounted a Halfords at the moment, was recommended in Auto Express as a best buy wheel cleaner.
At 4500 miles my front wheels were not to bad, but I do try and clean behind spokes as well as possible during normal wash, any way the Turtle Wax seemed to work quite well without being to aggressive, once clean I gave them a coat of Wonder resin polish, this makes for easier cleaning next time. will give the rear wheels same treatment another day, they should be even easier.
Thanks for all previous suggestions.

Failing clearcoat either poor application or outside influence. Usually the latter honestly.

Diamond cut really is a useless finish.

Love the look, but very fragile finish.
Difficult to buy a car with ordinary alloys these days, unless you go low to mid spec.

Mine has ordinary alloys and it has a p11d value of 70k......

They are also extremely difficult to kerb. 60k later and plenty of bumping up and down kerbs and not a mark on them.....

The only way I could get standard 18" alloys was to go for the Momentum trim which I didn’t want, so was forced to have the 19/20" wheels with the Subscription trim.
I just wish you could choose the wheels you want with the trim of your choice, without paying extra cash out, especially if it's a downgrade in wheels.

Dealers will do this also if a new factory order there are often no cost options like different wheels dealers don’t like as no profit

Because mine was an early edition XC60, there was not alot of movement with price or options. I would have gone with the Pro but that would have meant having 20" wheels so I settled with just the Inscription, which meant that I could at least get the smaller 19".
I also figured that if my wheels start getting scabby with worm out side of the warranty period, I will get them refurbished with ordinary paint finish.
