Blue 8,
Thanks for the link, which sort of adds to the pot that the green plug is a glass sensor (if I read that correctly) and the different versions of fob etc.
I've taken several cars from serious low mileage Mk1 escort, (17,000 now 128000) and run '79 3000s and a 310 bhp Taimar turbo (bought with less than 20K 47000 and 32000 now). I tend to rebuild, powder coat and zinc plating as things come apart and I might even buy in a sister car as a spares source to speed the process up (it sort of fits in with my business as that is what we do to customer TVR's) as I mentioned I ran a from new Mk3 escort to 351000 and have both a Pegout 306D and New Beetle both on 104000 ish. I tend to do a good job looking after my cars. I think I've found a short shifter (google volvo short shifter Kristianwoodall) I've sent a email.

You do seem to be sorting as you go...i don't know why but people seem to place too much importance on mileage..ok if it's a 2 month old car with 30.000 on the clock it is a lot...but for a 14 year old car with 16,000 on the clock it is a rare find but the clue is in the 14 year old bit...things do drop off/stop working and need replacing..and things will need looking at...unfortunately it is a fact of motoring
