Default RE: Great News - NOT!

Hi,

I replaced my passenger side outer CV joint, the boot had split letting muck into the joint so it had to be replaced. There were 3 main problems I had.

1) removing the lower ball joint from the hub - i used a sissor jack to raise drive shaft so that the suspention arm is in a horizontal position. A wack on the arm and it will come out

2) removing the driveshaft from the diff, very difficult, eventually made myself a tool out of a bit of square bar. It was grinded off at 45 degrees at the end with a notch cut out of it, so it would press against the diff casing and push out on the inner CV joint.

3) removing the CV joint off the end of the driveshaft, went and took it to my uncle who had a big hammer :)

The boot only cost £7 from a motor factors also got a reconditioned CV joint for £55.
As for tools you will need a big socket to remove the driveshaft nut and something in a similar scale to turn it with.

Chris
