Just create a new post and describe your problem. Best to use search function first as the answer to your problem may already be available else where.

Interested to see you are thinking about a Lexus 400h as an alternative to the XC60. I can talk from experience, as I had a 400h for 3 years, and then swapped it for my new XC60 D5AWD Geartronic in October last year. Whilst it is true that the lower emissions figure on the Lexus does mean you will pay less in RFR, there are far more worrying statistics to consider. I paid just under £37k for the lexus, and sold it privately for only £18,500, despite being lowish mileage and mint condition with new tyres and FSH. Yes - it did show about 28-32 mpg average around town, but that dropped like a stone on motorway runs, as it was a 3.3 V6 petrol unit when not on battery - and this only applied at really low speeds. I would hope to get a far better trade in on the XC60 in 3 years time, jusging by a recent article in the papers regarding depreciation. In the meantime, I am averaging about 35-37mpg which I think is pretty repectable for 205bhp on tap. Hope this gives you more food for thought - oh, and the Volvo seats are ten times more comfortable than the lexus - trust me!

We simply don't ike the interior of the XC60 which is a shame because from the outside it looks stunning. But where are you going to spend most of your time, looking at it from outside or sat inside hating it? XC60 is a no no for us.

Just to be clear here the excessive cost is just for the first year of a newly purchased vehicle (reason to make you feel guilty about buying a big car that emits more...)
My XC90 2.4D5 AUTO falls in band K and so is £245 for 2011. Band K for new is £550 for year 1 for Petrol or Diesel but would then revert back to more normal levels in year 2. So as a previous post said consider this in the overall initial cost, as if you go the Drive the Deal route then the extra £300 odd quid is a bit annoying but certainly not a deal breaker for an XC90. |

If you read from the start you'll see the relevance of the post instead of wading in.
Jimmy B As said, this is not the first registration fee. Previously the VEL related to engine size, it now relates to CO2 emissions. The geartonic D5 XC90 is very poor on CO2 scores and as a consequence has shot up to £425 a year VEL.

sorry but did not realise you were talking about older models as my 2009 is band k an so £245. Enjoy your lexus if you go for that, shame as the xc90 is a great car.
