Hi everyone,

Just a little update: the light hasn't gone out still. It was on Saturday I removed some oil. I've been watching youtube videos about how to reset the light and I came across one that shows how to get error codes.

019 is showing up on the dashboard

Anyone know fault codes at all? Or particularly this code?

I had the same problem on my D5. Take out a bit more oil and reset the service warning.

My D5 has had the 019 code for about 8 months. I've given trying to get rid of it.

I would have to check but off the top of my head I think the 019 code is for the EOLYS fluid to tell you it is empty??

If I'm right then it will require an EOLYS fluid top up and WILL require someone with Vida/Dice to reset the EOLYS fluid software counter for message to go away.

Sometimes this is problem with non Volvo services, the service may be cheaper elsewhere but there is a reason for it at the end of they day (items not serviced that should be and use of cheap parts not to mention no software updates...).

I'm not a true believer of going to the dealer for everything but there are some things that I wouldn't go anywhere else for. As it happens servicing is not necessarily one of these things but following the proper Volvo service schedule if nothing else would be!

I thought the D5 had a dry system diesel particle filter which does not need Eolys fluid to regenerate the DPF. The 1.6D and 2.0D with a DPF have the Eolys fluid but not the D5.

EOLYS Fluid is an additive that is injected and used to raise exhaust temperatures to burn off the particles of soot during a regen cycle, although as yours is a D5 you don't have this to worry about as your system uses excess fuelling in the exhaust cycles to pump fuel into the exhaust as opposed to EOLYS fluid.

steV50, you are 100% correct. The D5 doesn't have EOLYS but the 019 code I'm fairly positive is caused by similar effects (restricted DPF / exhaust system) it is worth having a regen conducted on a D5 and check out the exhaust system for serviceability.

Evening everyone,

I had the oil changed in my car today and the guy who done it plugged it into a diagnostics computer which found 2 faults. One was air con. Something about it needed a re gas or it has been re gassed. Makes sense as I had that done last week.

Hoorah the second one was because of too much oil! Both warnings have been reset and no more annoying lights on the dashboard.
