looking at that car its reg starts "KN" which is the DVLA area for kettering/northampton areas so its likely to be a closed auction car not one the dealer has supplied or used as a demo car.
V V nice tho!

The one I bought is a KN registration, the supplying dealership is in the Oxford area according to the service book. I've not had the V5C back yet so can't see which company was the previous owner yet but will challenge with the dealership if its an ex-rental. It's unlikley to be I suspect as the level of trim and extras are more than you would find on a typical five door hatchback rental model.

Cars like this are sold every month through British Car Auctions. The next one is Volvo cars UK Ltd Open at Brighouse on 23rd and there are 115 lots for sale.

Volvo dealers often buy them. They are generally high spec models with extras - very few are base models.

You will find typically that one selling at auction for £13k appears a few days later on a forecourt for £20k.

They still under manufacturers warranty so you can't go wrong in my view.

I bought one for my wife and after 9 years it's still going perfectly.

Good luck at the sales!

When I was buying my car, there were almost two identical cars at two different dealers. I played them off each other until one refused to budge any lower.

I was lucky in that situation, but I got more than £1000 off a (much) lower sticker price...

Without something to compare against, I think I would have struggled to get much more than £500, to be honest.

I did much the same as many people here have said. I simply used Volvo Selekt database to find a good deal (you need to keep looking). I ended up with one
8 months old ex management with under 4500 on the clock and I paid 22.9k whereas the new price was 37k

with over 2 years warranty if I should need it I am really pleased with my purchase.

you can still haggle of course. I got them to add in the Safeguard (supreguard) which is well worth the money if you have to pay for it and I got a really good trade in deal as well which was over 1k more than offered elsewhere.

Bought my V40 from a local used car dealership that specialise in low mileage vehicles, just recently received the log book and sure enough my v40 was in the volvo employees scheme.

It's done just over 5k and great spec, cost just under 19k which I thought was really good for the miles and gadgets. Over the moon with my volvo.

There are some great cars to be had at a fair price out there.

Well I hardly expect a dealer to be happy with my comments but I challenge anyone to do as I do and make up your own mind.

Back in 2006 I bought my wife's S80 D5 at a BCA auction. I paid £13,600 and when I looked later in the week similar cars sold at that auction were on sale with Volvo dealers for £19,600.

With the internet it's easy and you don't even need to go to the auction.

There's a lot of Volvos going at BCA blackbushe this week. Look at them, write down a few reg numbers that you're interested in, and watch the websites for them to come up for sale, sometimes I've seen them advertised the same day before they are even delivered to the dealer.

The best, or worst, I have ever seen was a couple of months ago at Birmingham BCA. I saw a rare and very desirable Merc go at auction for £22,300.

A week later it was advertised at a Cheshire car showroom at £49,950!
