Many thanks for all the posts and the link to past work on the car - it's fascinating to read the history. Oh, before I go any further, better clear up comments on the other car - it's our daughters 1969 four door Morris Minor. There might have been confusion as its up in the air undergoing restoration. Anyway, back to the Volvo and the link. I noticed the first post was by Mike Brace and he mentions another Mike. Also "Mike 1967" mentioned this was his car in the past so I'm a bit confused. Can anyone shed a bit of light please on who's who? I've done a few jobs already myself and will try to keep you all updated as I do work on the car. There was quite a bit of history with the car and I noticed reference to the IPD suspension which, unfortunately, was removed by the previous owner which is a pity and I don't know why it was removed but never mind. Thanks again, Tony

Hi.
I think I'm right in the following. A gent called Ian Hutchinson owned 'BAY' and was on this forum, can't recall his forum name though. On the rwd forum he is/was IH . IIRC he tried to fit an electric cooling fan to 'BAY' at some stage. He sold it Mike1967, who used to be THE STIG on here and is THE STIG on the rwd thread, he is also the 'Mike' that Mike Brace refers to, if that makes sense? Mike1967 is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to car cleaning/detailing, hence the fab body condition. He took the car to Mike Brace for the work listed in his thread. Mike Brace is a '240guru' who no longer afaik uses this forum. Mike1967 then sold 'BAY' to a fellow in Ashbourne (Nr Derby) and it was he if I understand who had the IPD stuff replaced. I guess it was from him that you bought 'BAY'? Well there you go, thats the best my memory can do, can't guarantee its 'spot on info' , but I don't think it's far out I wonder if 'BAY' is the 240 that has had the most 'forum using owners' lol

Hi paul I'm pretty sure you are correct on the points you stated.
Yes (Stig) mike 1967 has always been a perfectionist and mike brace is the guru and always will be.He last came on september 2012 so still hanging around helping out others. Mike 1967 had some amazing cars while I've known him on here. All equally detailed to an amazing standard and always a pleasure to see. How incredible to see a red 240 that truly is still red Lol. Incedendtly Ian had "Ian Hutchinson" as his user name but changed it to !IH".He was last on here august 2012.and joined dec 2004.A really lovely fellow who found a volvo mascot for me,ordered it off ebay paid for it sent it to me and I eventually paid him back. I nearly bought his estate car from him as that like all his cars was incredibly well pampered. I know t5tony will enjoy this car and as you can tell it brings back many memories seeing it again. Regards Brian. |

Yes to the above of what Paul and Brian say about my old BAY . While in my ownership as they mention above I loved the old thing ... got admired wherever it went , and thats no bull . Yes I was and still are a clean freak when it comes to car detailing . The one and only reason I had to sell the car was down to money , I was about to seperate from my misses and also was about to loose my home , yes it was a bad year for me but that was quite a while ago now and yes my life has turned around for the better now . As Brian mentions above I had quite a few oldish Volvo's over the years ... but "Bay" was indeed the best I had ... the car was something else , nothing came close to it back then !!!
