Caravans are ok, as far as I know, BKV is Best Kept Volvo - many different classes for the competition.

May 18th is now not that far off, and neither is the National...I have to say disappointment has set in with the lack of interest from 740 (700) owners for the 30th Anniversary.

I had a magazine interested in featuring 740s at the National, and I was going to have a commemorative sticker made (at my own cost) for attendees.

Any 740 enthusiasts out there..?

Just thought I'd give this a bump as we're just over a month away from the Southern BKV...not a peep out of anyone regarding this.

I'll post again when we're six weeks to go to the national - if there's no interest I'll advise the magazine to stand down.

Sad.

Jon.

N.B the lack of numbers means no 740-30 stickers: and I doubt the club will support anything.

I know this is for the 700s 30 years but why not make it for the last of the RWD Volvos and include the 900s to boost the numbers as they are basically the same .

Dear 'Prufrock'

Thank you for taking this initiative. As a long-standing 740 owner and 'champion' to anyone who'll listen, I would like to register an interest in this event (The 'National').

Two caveats, however. One, the car is one that we have owned for 16 years, is very much a working vehicle which is kept outdoors. It would be most unlikely to meet your high standards and is not one that we would ever consider 'showing'. Would we still be welcome - we would normally just park up in the public car park?

Secondly on a personal note, we may have a service at our Church that morning which would mean that we couldn't be with you until after lunch. We'll know if this is so nearer the time.

Kind regards, John.

Thank you for your post John.

I have a 1986 745GLa on a C plate, which has been in my family from six months old, and that too is very much a working vehicle in the sense it was for many years an everyday car - it came to me for it's retirement! I'm am always interested to see cars that have been in long term ownership as they often have interesting tales to tell.

You will definitely be welcome - just look out for my C reg silver 745! Hopefully we'll be joined by more than a few 740 owners.

Regards, J.
