Was that 10psi ? I'm going to have to sort all my mechanical issues before I get near to fitting mbc. But it sounds good

Yes, pretty sure my LPT hits boost around 2000-2500rpm upwards too.

Going back to my original point, if that's the case and both B230FK and B230FT both hit boost at the same time, and if B230FK is identical to B230FT the in all but the wastegate, then it begs the question why did they bother producting the lower powered car at all....

Seems pretty pointless.

I'm not sure they do both hit boost at the same time. Again I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will let us know

im sure the lpt was for lower end torque for towing. hpt more for spirited driving.

In some countries, i think France is/was one, road tax is calculated on engine power. I'd make a guess that's why. It is only a guess though.

Presumably it was sold here as the lower powered version would have been cheaper to insure so would have appealed to fleet buyers, rather than the HPT which as previously stated, would be for "more spirited driving".

Again this is a guess.

Volvo do sometimes get things wrong, they keep trying to tell me mine has a private registration on or has had but i can't find any evidence of that and the reg it has now is the same as when the PDI and handbook were filled in in pen when the car was new.

To be honest I'd assumed the same thing, It would be nice to understand but I suppose without speaking to the bods at Volvo we never will know for sure.

At least a LPT is only ever a MBC away from becoming a full fat HPT car

Loving that term "spirited driving"

It's a good one, i can't take any credit for it, i borrowed it from someone else further up the page.
My usual/favourite is "enthusiastic driving" which can cover a multitude of sins, not just giving it the beans!

My car is mainly for transporting the dog and she's not too keen on enthusiastic or spirited driving unless its in a straight line

well your chassis plate says B230FT ( 165 bhp 264 nm torque )
The sticky label is correct including engine number .

so you have neither the High Pressure turbo B230GT 170 bhp 265 nm torque)

nor the low pressure turbo B230FK ( 135 bhp 230 nm )

Someone above asked why they bothered with the B230Fk which produces only 3 bhp more power than the non turbo B230E,
It was to keep competitive with the competitors engines and torque at the time , you would never know it was a turbo , low boost , no turbo badging and no turbo gauge .. It was all just to get an extra 40 nm of torque , it made the difference ...
