I think thats what i paid, i know it was a better deal than the Volvo one, I mean £100 for a bracket to drop the fuse box I thought was a bit steep!!! lol

I have dealt with Strutbracer for a group buy, and they were a very good company. When fitting the strut bar, I would recommend using new aero nuts to replace the ones you take off.

I have the Volvo strut brace on my car and I bought it in Holland back in 1999 when it was first released. Back then it was merely £80 to buy and I do not know how they've justified the 120% price increase since.

Hi Rob. Unfortunately understeer's always going to be a bit of an issue with a FWD car, however, as I understand it, to make the car more "balanced", ie. more oversteer, the best bet is to actually stiffen the rear, not the front.

When you say brand new do you mean literally just put on?

If so, car will have sh*t grip until the tyres scrub in, could take up to 100 miles or so

exactly..., with front wheel drive cars, with power, you are always going to have understeer...ie wider cornering with WOT, this is not what a strutt brace is designed for....
a strutt brace's main objective is to keep the camber of the front wheels as close to "set up" as possable...this is acheived by bracing the top of both shocks to keep them as rigid and square..(the bottom being kept rigid by the control arms) therefore when pulling away with WOT its effect is to keep the tyres as square to the road surface for maximum contact....it also will prevent on tyre from being out of camber/line with the other therefore preventing/limiting torque steer.....
all in all they are a great mod, give better traction and look great under the bonnet
cheers
jod

Overkill as in "sledgehammer to crack nut" overkill.
