Cheers Martin, means a lot
I'd prefer you to do it tbh, perhaps you could even do the hammer mod for a whole 4 cans. Liquid gold though? That's not my bag, more of a "Down the village" kinda thing though! Lol I'll let you know anyway, Fella.

TDi around Manchester
Try John Lawn at Norden Motor Company, Norden, Rochdale. He is an excellent Volvo Indi. He looked after all my Volvo's before I moved to North Yorkshire.

Please excuse my ignorance but is the timing belt replacement something that requires a volvo specialist or could any decent/experienced independent mechanic do it? I bought an 850 tdi yesterday with 204k on the clock and there is no record of timing belt change so I'd better get it done. My mechanic quoted me 450 - he was told the kit was 200 including vat, plus coolant, plus labour. I think he's done VW LTs before. Is the 850 any different?

Does anyone know the crank locking tool part No for the P1 V70 TDI Auto?
Or an aftermarket tool that is suitable. IIRC, and if the tool locks through the starter motor mount, starter motor mounts are different for Auto and Manual. Or am I getting confused between petrol and diesel - I know they are located differently - what about auto? Colin

volvo part number 9995645 it locks in to the bottom pulley at the front/timing belt end of the engine so gear box type doesn't matter Volvo can be a bit funny selling these tools but it does depend on which parts department you contact!
