I ended up getting mine from here

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=726

Although I can't get on the site at the moment. Had no problems with the supplier but was stung for the £15 contribution to her majesty's government for importing goods plus another charge of £15 from parcelfarce for paying the charge for me (see previous moans!)

May be best to try and find a seller who already has them imported.

Someone on here put me onto an Ebay seller who does them but he wasn't much help when I contacted him, you may have more luck so I'll try and find the details and PM you.

Think that was me, sorry it didn't work out with him, my purchase was fine.

I asked him to mark the value down to be more customs friendly, which he did, and I didn't get charged.

Good point! I didn't know that the USA fitted in the way I would expect. I have ordered one and am awaiting it's arrival!

Thanks!

Not endorsing this sale, just pointing it out. Please do your own research on compatability of the adaptor and the seller.

That's the one, he's quite open to offers if you don't take the ****, I got mine for £65 inc postage. It's a real shop in California.

Received my USAspec ipod adapter at the weekend - what a great piece of kit! Removing the centre console trim took slightly longer than expected (had to resort to the Haynes manual so as not to break anything!) but generally an easy installation - about an hour. I would highly recommend anyone to buy the USAspec adapter as it does more than the Volvo genuine part (allows you to select tracks from the ipod itself as well as the stereo) and only requires cables to be run from the back of the head unit to wherever you want your ipod - I chose the handbrake cubby hole.

One thing that I learned………….don't plug your ipod into the adapter when it's in the 'Hold' position (i.e. the ipod is keylocked). This seems to confuse the unit and stop it from working. Because it is wired to permanent live I had to disconnet the power to the adapter in order to reset it. Not major but had me worried for a bit.

Head unit's a doddle, it's the aircon pannel you should be worried about!

Hi

I just bought an adaptor from Canada - http://www.imiv.ca

It is very similar to the USA Spec one, but the difference is the Head Unit controls Playlist (freeze Ipod) / Normal (use Ipod control) mode - the USA Spec relies on jumpers on the interface. The IMIV also allows more playlists.

For those with TV's it also does clever things with IPOD Video's etc.

Fittiing was relatively straighforward, the only difficult bit was putting the Head Unit back becuase of all the wires behind (a Car kit for the phone probably did not help there). Also make sure you disconnect the battery as I have heard that the Aircon panel will display a fault otherwise.

Hope people find this useful.

David
