Now, to be sure it’s the relay. Start with the old relay in place. Run it until it ‘dies’. Then do the bridge on 15/87. See if she fires up. If yes it’s got to be the relay.
Kee is up to date.

Fitted jumper cable with fuel relay removed but car wouldn’t start. Waited three hours for engine to get cold, car stars fine, runs ten minutes and dies. Thermostat and temperature sensor have been replaced. Struggling now......

Mmm, that’s odd. Could you hear the fuel pump running with the jumper in place and ignition on?

Still sounds like a temperature related issue, I would be tempted to change the temp. sensor again using a genuine Volvo part.
https://www.volvopartshop.com/index....erature+sensor Also consider the outside temp sensor |

The car is going into a Volvo dealership tomorrow for a timing belt so I will let them diagnose the problem. I will report back on the findings.

Don't forget to tell the dealer that it'll need to run for 10 minutes plus after the initial start after the belt has changed or they will say there is nothing wrong with it. Hopefully, this issue may not add as much to the bill as it might have when booked in for that job alone. At least they can pull the codes up properly.
Does the system allow the codes to be read continuously so they can be read at the point when the problem occurs? |
