In a manual? With that short first gear? Don't be daft!
Mapped, Low 9's. But I am running a lift, and muddy tyres. I specifically looked for a manual XC70. Purely because on A roads, a driving experience is fun. Stop start traffic, isn't an issue. I've driven manuals and had an auto a few years back. Yes, it was lovely in stop start stuff, but to have an autobox that wouldn't listen to what gear I wanted to be in, displeased me. Also that's how I began left foot braking training, Must remember, ITS NOT A FORKLIFT! The Ram is auto, but that was a "Got to have". Manual transmissions tend to not like high torque and horsepower. Auto is nice, it really is. |

Typo in my last post. My XC70 has 230bhp not 130, which slightly undermined my point!

Me to man
I hate my M66 but for that money I could buy just this manual V70 and I said never manual, but never say never. I could buy some automatic but like this with 130kmm first owner and new brakes and timing belt and everything was done in time and every 10 000km oil change. Bought and serviced in same Volvo for 12-13 years. |

They use a computer, which has the engine and gearbox data, and calculate the acceleration.

So no physical testing?

Unless they have changed the procedure, no. This is how they did it some years ago, at least. I know that for sure.

I'd bet that the motoring journalists do actual tests so that they can flex their macho skills and do serious wear to the cars that they are loaned free of charge. Which is why they probably thrash the manuals and disdain from taking autos seriously. I've winced at watching Clarkson and Hammond burning out brand new sets of £300 a piece tyres. What are they doing now that they have to test EVs!

0-60 in a manual XC is a bit of an experience if you're not used to the VERY short 1st gear.
