Best to drain the oil when it's hot, yes.
Make sure you wear gloves when you remove the sump plug.

Default Front & rear diff oil service

I'm also looking at replacing the F/R diff oil.
Any spec on the oil please?
I have been on Youtube and you have to fill each diff then remove 100ml from the front and 50ml from the rear to get the correct level.
Does this apply to a 2006 D5 auto 2.4 185bhp?

Regards,

Mark.

All done and after a 30 mile test drive the gearbox is now working as it should.
A very satisfying day's work.

I will probably do it again in 2k miles to remove the dregs that were left in the box.

Now to sus out how to do the diffs/etc.

Gearbox filter????

Where is this filter that you have found and what vehicle exactly have you got.

I've had the 5 speed and 6 speed geartronic box on a D% engine and neither had a transmission filter as standard.

Post a photo of what you have found if possible.

Looks like I have been given some miss-information!

2nd gearbox oil change done today.

Replaced the old old rear o/s tyre today - now the steering feels normal. (It used to pulled into the n/s before).

only the powershift gearbox has a replaceable filter. geartronic gear boxes have a filter but its only changeable with a full stripdown as its within the gearbox case hope this helps

Thanks.
That is what I have now learned.
Will the gearbox oil have a fixed gauze of any kind to catch any particles of wear in the life of the box?
If so - may this eventually inhibit the flow and cause shifting problems?
I found no bits in my old gearbox oil.
Regards,
Mark.
