One of my C70's has 225,000 miles on it has been driven at vmax for long periods of time for uptil around 170,000 miles. Outside routine servicing, its only need a heater matrix, radiator, CV joints and I've done a full suspension refresh as I do with any car. It still runs sweet as. However, I have serviced it religiously.
I have bought BMWs in the past with just over 100,000 miles, again so real concerns but, with these it takes longer to find one that's been looked after rather than just used as a cheap tool, run a on a budget etc. 50,000 miles in these thereafter usually only costs me a few engine sensors in addition to routine servicing. I was looking to buy a Porsche Cayenne Turbo a few years ago, went to look at one with approximate 115,000 miles on it at a dealer. It only had 5 service stamps as it has 20K service intervals, there was an issue with the car on full lock where it seemed to have on/off drive feeling. So I walked away. I do not believe in 'long life' services, so I won't touching anything with 20,000 mile service intervals. This is just asking for premature unnecessary wear in my book. I had an new Astra GTC on lease with 20,000 mile intervals and even after 90,000 miles, it went well but, I can assure you these won't last like the old stuff. For me 100,000 miles is not an issue so long as the vehicle is well serviced and as I'm a fusspot, I look to do the following after purchase; 1. new engine sensors 2. new thermostat 3. full suspension refresh (shocks, arms, bushes, links) In summary, high miles are not an issue but you need to take your time to look at a number of examples to find the one that's been really looked after as no 2 used cars will be identical.

Would a high mileage xc90/xc60 be potentially more risky than a v60/s60 due to heavier/running gear?
