as the vac engine mount only work up to abt 1100 rpm then the valve on the air box redirects the vacuum to the turbo as the engine speed increases the engine will smooth out eliminating any vibration check the engine mounts hold a vacuum si robb has a youtube vid on this. a scan with vida would show this fault. also do a leak back test on the injectors to check for any over fuelling

Probably not. It's not crystal clear exactly what the generic label "throttle position" means for this particular scanner - it might refer to the signal from the throttle pedal position sensor, or to the setting of the throttle body.

However, if we assume it's the throttle body position, then I'd say 92% *seems* as if it could be right-ish, given that this is a diesel and so RPM is regulated by fuel flow and the engine usually runs at max airflow (give or take, for emissions control).

Yeah - But - 92% at 2000 rpm, also at idle, and also at 0 rpm - seems unlikely??

I'd now be seriously thinking about taking the car to someone who knows more, and has the equipment to check things thoroughly.

Good Luck

Cheers

Dave

Outside of the use of the turbo pressure to increase fuel/air charge, the speed and output power of a diesel engine is controlled by fuel metering not air flow. By design they are full flow with respect to air, as ignition depends entirely on high compression.

At 0 rpm - the valve is fully open in preparation of engine start up? It may close/reduce during actual shutdown as a kind of anti-dieseling valve.

Absolutely. A good Volvo independent will save hours of guesswork.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

A gentleman on here who lives close by has kindly offered to plug his vida I and take readings. Once I get them, I will post them on here to see if there is anything obvious.

If I am no further forward at that point, I think I will take to an independent volvo garage.

Cheers

Any updates on this?
Mine is at 87% in idle and when running.

It’s true that should be always on?
