Drop links are the usual suspect as you've already suggested. The other culprit is the anti-roll bar bushes. You can buy them but to fit them you need to drop the subframe a bit. Also check the engine mounts and the bush in the torque rod on the top right hand side of the engine - these frequently break, although it won't cause a knock (unless it has completely fallen out lol). Many people fit poly type bushes instead -

Re good sources of parts, for genuine there are some dealerships on this forum - FRF Motors Volvo at Swansea and Gavin Sturley from MRG Volvo Cheltenham, see here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=42 plus most dealers will give you 10% off parts if you show a valid VOC membership card.

For pattern parts there is PartsForVolvo - who are also on that linked page, plus GSF, EuroCarParts, Charlton Volvo Centre...

In short, you'll find the parts you need

Thanks for that. I suspect it is something around that area but not seen anything that would instantly suggest it. Is there any links to a manual for these or what about a Haynes? Any good?

The Haynes manual isn't bad to be honest, but it doesn't address the AWD system at all I'm not aware of any workshop manual that does either... But for non AWD issues the Haynes manual is fine.

Booooo. Didn't work. Think the top mounts have gone. Can see clearly around it and there is nothing in between.

Here's a pic of the top mount. Is there something missing or is that how it's meant to look?
