I had the same on my old V60 which I mentioned to the garage but they could never hear it. I had a tyre replaced and the fitter noticed it. He commented that it was a lubrication issue (on the top mount ?).

They don't cost much for the unit but it's time consuming stripping the suspension unit and then the spring needs compressing and the top mount removing..etc, etc.. I have a new nearside unit ready to replace, no noise yet, but just need the "courage" to get started !!!! |

Another +1 for top mount. A local run-of-the-mill garage couldn't find any issue, but afterwards took it to a Volvo indie who spotted it right away. Cost me around £180 to have the mount changed.

I had these symptoms on my V60 for a few months. I decided to renew the front suspension on both sides, as the work involved would be about the same for doing just the top mounts.
Total price for parts (Sachs springs, Bilstein B4s, top mounts, dust covers and spring caps) was £335 from Autodoc and I did it over a couple of days. It wasn't technically difficult. I built the struts beforehand so it was a straight swap out. I used the product ID plate to identify the correct springs. |
