A prerequisite for Footman James is "the car must be garaged at night". That rules me out. I meet all other requirements - except this one. Guess Lancaster is the way forward for me then...

I only renewed with footman james last week, they asked if i was a member of VOC, I said yes, gave them my mem no and it made no difference to price??

I was in contact by email too them and asked can I insure my car classic with no garage. Going to go classic insurance when I return to the UK.

I had an email back confirming yes I could, but need more info. Just a simple proposal, ie. Driving years, convictions etc.

I'm sure they would charge a bit more, but worthwhile.

Do any others insure you classic with no garage?

James

I think club membership only helps the cost on a 'Classic' policy.

I've been with FJ for a couple of years now. There is no mention on my policy of being garaged over night or even on a private drive.

I paid £158 last year and £172 this year for fully comp, unlimited milage and other sundries (national breakdown etc).

It is on classic,Supposed to be garaged 10-6am, unlimited miles, free breakdown etc, fully comp,£169 this year, £175 last,Thats on a 1988 740 2.0lt I'd check your policy carefully, Its unusual for it not to be on 10-6am if its a classic.

As I said, there is no mention in my policy (or over the phone for the original quote), but i'll give them a ring to check and get back to you all.............

I'm with Footman James and have all three of mine on a joint policy fully comprehensive.Discount for being a VOC member. Was told we have been added when attending the annual AGM of the voc.

I think the garage bit comes in when asking for agreed value as well as photographes and proof of value from club officials.

Mine are unlimited mileage,No garage and ALL under classic status.Value £1000each for two of them and £2000 for the 940 Limo. All under classic policy. Most insurance companies wouldn't touch the Limo.WHY even with non paying passengers it still represents a higher risk as eight passengers could claim etc for injuries in the event I get in a crash?.
And for all that it cost £513 all in.

Regards Brian.
By the way cost of membership is £29 annually.Might be a £5 initial admin amount but may have recently been dropped?
