That is the Battery monitor is stores all sorts of info on the cars electrical system about 4 x A4 pages worth, of historic and current data.

@Clan
Apologies to all for somewhat hijacking the post, but I believe many people would like to know the answer to this question :-) I have searched, but no answer was clear enough. As we all know there are many electrical issues with our cars nowadays because they are so hungry for electrical power due to all the (un)necessary gadgets. Volvo says that my (and many others) MY2013 V70 D3 D5204T7 with Start/Stop needs 70Ah 760 Cold Cranking Ampere AGM main battery. And the Vehicle Details & Variant Attributes for my car are the following: CS06 - BATTERY- H6 70Ah 760 Cold Cranking Ampere CR02 - ALTERNATOR - Alternator 180A 5601 - BIGGER BATTERY - Standard battery Of course it also has a BMS. So, the question is - can we go with the bigger battery than currently installed "70Ah 760 CCA"? Or there will be issues? It seems that there is enough room for at least one step bigger AGM 80Ah 800 CCA battery, or even 95Ah 850 CCA. Would that be OK for the BMS system, and installed 180A Alternator? And if so, I suppose one would then need to report the bigger battery to the vehicle with VIDA or something? Thanks!

Thanks! Well, very often on Volvo forums I have come accross the saying: "The bigger is better" and in the case of the battery I believe it must be true, at least in the winter mornings when it drops below -10 C Not everything is perfect on older higher mileage cars so the stronger healthy battery can surely help. My other car which I drove for 17 years is 1996. 855 2.5 TDI, and due to inferior fuel injection system it would surely cope easier to start with bigger battery when winter morning is brutally cold. But, there is no room for bigger battery in 855 TDI, so I have installed AGM instead of ordinary lead acid, and it is a great benefit as the engine starts easier in every condition thanks to higher CCA and faster recharge of AGM.

The support battery is charged too when you connect the charger to the main battery.

Are you sure? I don't think so, but I am not sure. There is a Relay which connects both batteries in parallel when needed. While observing the battery charging with ELM Scanner during driving that Relay changes between "0" and "1" depending on whether the support battery is being charged from the alternator. And there are separate instructions on how to charge both batteries which does not mention that when you charge the main battery that the support battery is also charged. And I believe that when the engine is off, that the Relay in question is also "0".

I'm not sure it is without the engine running. Using a CTEK charger overnight my main battery was fully charged at 12pm today, so 24 hours, I then put the positive lead/clamp to the support battery positive terminal and it took a further 6 hours (recondition) to reach step 7 fully charged.

In the my V70 settings it’ll have a DRIVe menu that contains the stop start. It’ll say stop start is unavailable and it’ll give a reason.

Iirc if you put a bigger (longer) battery in the V70 the plastic cover which you 1st remove don’t fit.. recall a thread on here about it. Suppose u don’t need a cover, Never had a cover on batteries for 30 yrs.
Cheers Bob

Check the attached photo. Battery bay on my V70 looks like it's big enough for two sizes longer battery. One size is only 37 mm longer (315-278 mm) so it looks like sure fit. The plastic cover also looks like it would cover the longer battery without hassle :-) Maybe the pre MY2013 had a smaller battery bay or cover.
