So far fully recommended - the bonus is the guy Paul, is time served in the local Volvo main dealers so has the knowledge.
Who was the other garage?

As far as MOT tests are concerned. Most local councils have garages who service and repair their vehicle fleets. Most of these are testing stations, they will test your car, and are not looking for any work and so have no bias. Which is as it should be.

Salut!

There are only TWO PEOPLE on the Planet who lift my Bonnets...

ME .... & Brian Jump @ Jumpleads .... which reminds me ... I must pay him that 50 quid I owe him from Last July .... (yeah ... he's THAT kinda guy!!!!)

& as Pookie says ... I used to have my cars MOT'ed by the local Lancashire Ambulance Service Garage ... they CAN'T "fix a fault" so no reason to "Fleece yer out of money" ....

Now I go to my local "pet" mech (Brian) .... if its broke he fixes it .. if its broke & he Can't fix it .. he leads me another Volvo until he CAN fix it ... End of !!!

PYE Volvo

In Stirchley Birmingham are Fantastic

They know our cars inside out, and own, drive them too

One of the reasons I still drive a Volvo is that I don't think I can find anywhere as good or better to take my car to

The OP might like to investigate Alresford Motor Services. Not too far from Basingstoke and they claim to be good at Volvos too.
www dot amsmotors dot co dot uk

I used to take my Saab there and they looked after it very well. Never ever had problems with things "missed" and was never offered unnecessary fixes either.

Now I'm driving Swedish again (after a few years of Japanese) I expect to be using them when the time comes round for servicing.

Mikethelaserman - thanks for the tip, will investigate them for next year, Alresford is not too far away at all.

Once again car serviced by East End Volvo - brilliant.

Major service done, £247. Identified wishbones needed replacing - £247. And quotes me to do the timing belt next year (yes, the quote is written down and valid for a year) - £280 (V50 2004 diesel).

Impressed- totally.
