I went round for a look last night. The yard was shut but I looked through the fence, the 262 has a mondeo on top of it. Couldn't see the back of it.

Holding up a Mondeo!

What an utterly distressing end for one of the rare ones.

I'm pretty certain the lights won't fit a late model, as they are based on the slope front type Steve's got.

Cheers,

T

Default Update

Been to see it.
Steve, pm me your address and I will get the badges to you if you want them, otherwise I will hold on to them on behalf of the club. They were free as well, not blagged, the bloke was more than happy for me to take them. Even gave me a driver to get them off. All switches are there and I forgot to check if the front spoiler is still on it, although it doesn't look like it has been touched yet.

Rest of the car is pretty much gubbed. Doors are rotten at the bottom and up the rear edge.
Rear bumper and rubber trim is pretty good, rear lights..D/S is broken, P/S has a small crack.
No glass where it should be.
Interior is complete and would probably scrub up alright. The whole dashboard is there with all gauges and even the radio. The 2 interior lights are also still there.
Engine is in the car but couldn't get the bonnet open due to a large amount of other spares on top of it, so not sure if it is turning by hand.
Headlights are whole, front grille is whole and I don't remember anthing being amiss with the front bumper.

If anyone need to know any more let me know and I will check.

Thanks for checking about the lights. A pity - I'm sure I'll find a pair somewhere!

A bit I forgot to mention. The P/S door mirror is complete, D/S..no glass and where it attaches to door is snapped.

No problem John, I'll keep an eye out round me.

Something of a long-shot, but possible...

Is anybody from this part of Scotland coming to the National BKV at Tatton?

Is there any way some kind sould could pick up the spoiler and get it brought down to Tatton for Steve?

I'm sure he'd mega grateful!

John

I've PM'd Steve about this and will get it if it still has it.
If any one can pick it up that would be perfect otherwise it can/will be sent.

Noticed today that this car has fitted 'Volvo' hard plastic mats and rear sun shades with the fittings on the roof. Were these standard fitting or aftermarket?
Chap at the yard told me it was a 5 cylinder engine and he was a bit surprised it was not a 6 like he thought it should be, it only has 5 leads coming from the dizzy cap. It was a runner as well and the previous owner had spent a pile of money before ignoring it then scrapping it.

What's the deal with the radio in this car, it seems really awkward to operate, being low down and right in front of the auto shifter stick.
