depends.... Do you want to eat tyres? or would you rather have that torque steer / wheelspinny feeling? lol
With me it depends on my mood... But powering up some of the hills near me in 3rd on full boost can be a scary experience with no Traction control lol |

unsure , id think it would be down to personal preferances
some use aids to drive , like traction control, some use "SoP" , some like a mix of both. theres + and - to using it , and not using it, all depends on what your after and what you dont mind , no traction and a lead foot = wheel spin/lower mpg traction on and a lead foot > less wheel spin / potentially better mpg. no traction, good SoP "iffy road surface > ease away without spinning up.. and it depends on weather conditions/road surface/tyres/etc /etc as in snow /ice it Might be a + or a big fat - , whereas on a dry decent road surface you might want to get a shift on without leaving black lines / squeaky tyres. (SoP > Seat of Pants)

.....i know everyones preferences are different, but due to the inherent design of a FWD car to understeer i would never turn off the DSA in wet conditions......if you overcook it in the wet on a tight corner and try to drive out of it DSA off will allow the car to spin it`s wheels right into the ditch but with it on is less likely to do so, that is why it is called a "safety feature"....so in effect you cannot drive faster and safely with the DSA turned off......

I think that's the kinda point 960. It depends on peoples driving style and attitude.
Back in my Boy racer days i had a tuned BMW 3 series (1990 E30 shape), and a friend of mine bought a brand new M3 with TC. We both right footed it into a roundabout. I went round nice and sideways, His Traction control cut in and caused him to throw it wide and put his 2 week old toy through a brick wall. i actually quite like the security i get with the DSA and mine stays on most of the time, occasionally switching off for one of my "mad moments"... On private property of course *whistles* Short of it is. DSA is not a boy racer feature. But then. Do any of us buy a volvo to race?.. Well except for proving a point to the Chav in a saxo at the lights |

Just as a side note.... If after following this guide you still have a rattle, have a look at the end of your actuator arm and have a look at this post by gmain

I know I'm quite late to the party here, but I will need to do this on my V40 2.0T as it has this mighty rattle on lift-off, wish there would be a way to get the pictures back, although this is really helpful as is anyway
