It is a tricky one, 1999 seems to be the changeover year from phase 1 to 1.5. So perhaps all the phase 1.5's had filters as well as the phase 2's?
I know I had a 1998 P1 V40 with AC and no pollen filter. However my recent replacement, a 2000 P2 V40, does indeed have one. At least it's an easy job to accomplish on a V40 if you do have a filter though! Just had to replace the one on my C30 (which is for sale now), where you have to remove the glovebox, CEM, CEM brackets and various bits of FoMoCo stamped bits to just about access the FoMoCo stamped heater unit where the pollen filter is... right in the middle of the car. This took an hour. |

Remove the panel under the glove box. If your model does have one you'll see its location no problem. I'ts a narrow section with a clip at the top holding it in place. Release the clip and pull it out. I recently had the airco regassed and wanted to change the cabin filter, was looking everywhere for it! My S40 T4 1998 does'nt have one.

Coincidentally, I changed mine today and despite having done so a few times before had a quick search to make sure I got the direction the right way.
My S40xs was registered in September 1999 (V reg) therefore has a pollen filter. So I guess it's a phase 1.5 ! As others have said it's right underneath the glovebox, just und the two screws holding the panel in place. Direction of flow is left to right. |
