Andrew Ditton does very honest reviews, which is a rare thing from EV drivers.
He does long trips but plans stops every 100 miles or so. If you only plan to go within 100 miles of home then fine, otherwise I can't really see how it can work without potentially destroying all trip plans. The M5 in the summer is hard enough to find some spare tarmac to rest for 10 minutes, let along mess around unhitching, charging etc. I'll stick with my 450 mile towing range for as long as possible thanks. |

Taking your suggestion seriously, Iain, what size genny might be required?
When we had our boat - a small 18'6" cruiser, so not unlike a caravan - we bought a small genny to charge the batteries - leisure, not motive - and provide a modest source of mains power (600W) - when moored. While cruising, the batteries were charged via an engine driven alternator. When we sold our boat we retained the genny and it has since proved useful on more than one ocassion when we have had a power cut. Would such a solution work with an EV, do you think, or would the size of genny required make it impractical? Regards, John.
