yes it does help. My car is at 3k at 30mph in 3rd gear. Just doesn't make sense but its changed since they did this work - anyone know if there is any plausible mechanical explanation?

Is the car faster than before?
Is the clutch still slipping? Clutch slipping = engine revs increase when pressing the pedal, but car doesn't accelerate accordingly. You aren't being very clear whether your clutch is still slipping. If no to both questions, it sounds like your car has been returned to you with a different gearbox LOL. |

So its revving higher for the same speed than it was.

Thing is, though, it's the gearbox and differential which affect that. The clutch shouldn't make any difference, it's 1-to-1. Unless it's slipping, which you say it isn't. #confused

If nothing changed in gearbox cogs, diff ratios or wheel sizes, then the ONLY thing that can cause the engine speed to be now different to what it was previously is the clutch slipping. Everything else is mechanically locked, the clutch is the only thing that can allow the engine speed to go higher than it was in the past. If the clutch IS slipping, then it will burn out pretty fast.... go back to the shop and ask them to test drive the car with you in it.

Ah ok, gotcha, just got confused for a moment
To me its simple - if before you had 30MPH with 2k revs, and now you have 30MPH with 3k revs on the same gear, its either: a) your clutch is slipping constantly b) your gearbox/final ratio magically changed while car was in service Cant think of other explanations, seriously.
