here is a clue to what happened

they sent hundreds of envelopes over 6 months with things like FOA : payment department etc

but with no stamp on

the company was paying for the postage in order to receive the letter hoping it might be a payment

all they got was a rather abusive worded note !

Or some people have had signs printed up warning others that they do not have to pay any "fine" etc and sticking them up over the original signs

Dont pay , ignore everything they send . There can be any number of reasons why you did not park exactly within the lines and if the car park was not full as you claim then I dont see how you may have caused Mc Donalds any loss unless you were blocking someone but even then I doubt this kind of penalty is legally enforceable.

Which is how I sometimes park in order not to get door dents from other motorists.Car park spaces simply are not wide enough.

The only way to deal with these jokers is to ignore them from the get-go. Any attempt to reason/appeal etc. will just invite a fresh bout of threatening letters. They can send you all the letters they want but they have no legal rights to demand anything of you. They would have to take you to court and win a judgement against you before you'd be obligated to cough up, and they won't spend the money on that as 1) they'd most likely lose and 2) enough poor saps pay up upon receiving the first letter. If you deposit all their correspondence unopened into the circular file, they'll get bored and stop mailing you after a few months.

Wait a while and you will receive the one in BIG BOLD SCARY RED ink,and when you ignore that one, you will get the Notice of home visit letter. You've been on Moneysaving expert so you know what to expect.
Ps. Don't do as my mate did and get the biscuits in for when they come to assess your home situation and ability to pay home visit letter. That's the one before, the one they send with added court charges, even though they have not taken you to court and won!

TV licensing, now that`s a joke. I never open my door unless I`m expecting someone, if I see stooges on my doormat and suspect them of being TV licensing morons I just turn my stereo up and ignore them!
