SwAm;

...if twisting the fuse to cut through corrosion and make proper contact was your solution, that is strictly a short term fix!...you need to establish a long-term Gas-Tight-Joint at that connection (and preferably ALL other connections too)...with ACZP!...so it sounds like you're another potential customer for Derek...

Cheers

Anybody tried those Deoxit products and can comment on efficacy? If they work they could be useful in all kinds of old electrical equipment (thinking of pots in old valve amps myself).

In any event, whatever method you use, if you have never serviced your fuse box you should. They corrode and clog up and are a guaranteed headache if not bright and shiny!

tony;

I am very familiar with the Deoxit product line, and while I highly recommend it for finer electronics (see: http://www.sw-em.com/Deoxit_D5_Additional.htm ) , it is not generally suited for most uses in the automotive area (with notable exceptions!). For instance, Deoxit should be applied to Throttle Position Switch of the D-Jetronic systems because ACZP is not suitable for fine applications. The Deoxit application at the TPS must be renewed yearly as it is exposed to engine compartment conditions.

Got me home so the next job was to clean all the fuse mounts and replace a few that were discoloured so all is well now.

Thanks for your comments. Given that finding small pots is tricky, I'm tempted to order some myself.

Just came across this product
Contralube 770, might this work? It says it's a gel. I cannot find the ingredients on the web, appears to be used by sailors too.
Anyone got any experience of this product or advice?
