You also want to think about intercooler for keeping the air temps down. If you are thinking of testing the rods to the max later I would suggest a stand alone ECU rather than chips. It is not that chips will not get you to goal 1 but when you start pushing the rods you want the timing and fuel just right

Ah that's the one, I couldn't remember which was which, is that the N/A one? I'll definitely be looking into a big frontmount.

Seems like a lot of people overseas are getting good results from sticking with LH?

Default V

The V cam from a B230E 740 is good too. I think the piston rings went bye bye on one cylinder compounded by mental oil leaks. I'll post pics on my project thread. Basically you gotta pay to play and having staged upgrades if the only way to do it. If I was doing it again ( which I am ), I would do thorough Stage 0 ( which never stops ), chips, mbc, cam, intercooler, handling improvements, brakes then turbo and injectors/ maf in that order.
And not forgeting clutch/flywheel and a hammer to bash the piggybank.

Thing I worry about is once you get to that sort of power (300 bhp) plus even with good suspension and a g80 locker if you'll ever be able to get the power down or the car just becomes a widow maker?

Make will be 400 plus once finished end of March

Well I 've just bought some eight inch wide wheels and have a g80 to go on so we'll see when everything gets built up. I do have launch control as well Traction control would be more useful.

Default off we go

It's part of the Buchka spark mod I put on. You can set the revs at a constant say 2k when you start off like a Ferrari! Might need a better clutch though.

I second what barkster and classic swede are saying. Basic maintenace goes a long way. My car was cheap and almost worthless when I started so I just through power making mods at it and ive had nothing but grief! No major issues but chasing faults is starting to bug me plus each new running fault leaves you wondering if its a new issue with the part you just fitted or has the increase in power highlighted an old fault. I also really hate LH! Yes it can make power but its never the same 2 days in a row. One day its faultless, the next ill have missfires and stalling and the odd code thrown up. Cheap reliable power doesnt exist unfortunatly

I must add that cheap unreliable power is still very fun though haha. Amazing how quickly a old brick can become a car that upsets some rather powerful cars. Starting from scratch I would invest in proper suspension because as it stands just now a relliant robin could beat me round a twisty track

Default stages

I would say from experience having gone 13c-15g-16T-19T that doing it in stages or matching components is the way forward. Getting a 15g and V cam was a nice set up that was quite reliable. I could have put a HX40 on straight away but would have then required a host of other mods to fully utilise it. If you want high 200's ( which was where my car was -briefly ) you'll need 20psi. If you want 300+ then you'll need 25psi +.
The wear and tear on everything increases rapidly. When I put on my new manifold it provided probably an extra 10bhp which was enough to kill the clutch.
My brother is rebuidling mine and checking everything is spot on. I've just spent £62 on a top and bottom gasket set so I knowwhen it goes back in it won't spew oil.
