Cheers Thongy, it makes me think now I had a good motor in my old S40 and I knew that, I have a slight tinge of regret letting it go tbh, we were going to let the C30 go first but decided not to as it was the more valuable of the 2, probably should have kept the S40
![]() I am mega busy right now but I'm hoping to go and see one of the 50's on my list shortly and see how they compare to my expectations although I have to say I'm not expecting very much considering what I hear but I just can't shake that I want a late V50; the styling has aged really well, they still look really good. The SE and Lux models with silver roof rails and the led running lights look really fresh I think and after my run of cars that have fallen apart it'd be nice to have one that works!! The 50 makes sense to me on a lot of levels and I've wanted one for a while so might just have to do it anyway!!

What about an XC60, might tick the boxes if you don't like the V60 but want something a little more modern than the V50?

I've currently got a C30 with the Volvo 5 cylinder D3 engine and can honestly say it's a great engine. Always works, and it returns 50mpg on average. I'm really not a fan of the 1.6D and 2.0D engines myself, but if your experience of them has been ok then can't harm going for another one. I've heard the later 1.6D's are much better than the earlier ones because they have a dry DPF system.

My last PSA 1.6D ran to over 200k and was faultless. Hopefully I've found a decent car in the one above ![]()

![]() My experience with 2.0D has been great - have had some work done to it but that is what you get when buying used car at semi-high mileage. |

It's not the PSA engine that the problem, it's the stuff that attached to it that causes the issues. I've run French vans for years and the engines take a beating, it's the sensors, injectors eye which are the issue.
Good luck tomorrow TT
