Footwell totally dry. The air is coming from the pedal box blowing down onto the drivers feet. There is also a tiny bleed from the steering column plastic cover. Not unpleasant but enough to suggest that the leak is in the bulkhead somewhere or more likely from the heater air blender surround.
Thanks for your suggestions - as the dealer can't find it a long shot is likely to be right!

YES, I have almost the same symptoms (V70 D5 '06 plate), again 2 dealers cannot find anything wrong. I'm going to see my local dealer (Yeovil motors) again next week, 28th March. I phoned Volvo and they said that's what I need to do and the dealer needs to contact Volvo Technical. If they can't fix it I'm looking at another car!!! (This is my 4th Volvo and I love it, apart from the CC)

Hi,

Check the lid on the cabin filter is fitting correctly. Any air leak will travel behind the dash to find a way out!

Hi,

It is behind the Glovebox. Remove the top trim under the dash on the passengers footwell. you will then see a rectangular lid with 4 hex screws. The back 2 are difficult to get too.

Bob

PS its worth changing if it hasn't been done (doesn't seem to be on Volvos service routine).

Thanks Bob, I'll check it out today. I do know mine was changed last service (54,000), maybe that's the problem; technicians are finding it hard these days to do anything without plugging the computer in :-)

I have to admit that I think the techs can't find my problem because they don't drive it - I have always thought that too much fresh air is coming in the cabin and this doesn't happen in the workshop - I did mention it but do they listen?!!!
