It 'should' improve mpg but that really depends on how you drive the car. Given that the Polestar Optimisation software increases the midrange torque quite a bit, you shouldn't need to rev the engine as much in normal driving which in-turn should increase mpg. However, if you decide to utilise the high rpm increase in power alot then you will reduce mpg as you are using more fuel, its all very driving style dependent.
I would say that the improvement in midrange torque and power and gearbox responsiveness from the Polestar optimisation is well worth the outlay.
Give it a try as the dealerships do offer a 14 day money back trial of the software. If you dont like it, they will return it to standard.

Sorry to hijack this thread! I almost bought an immaculate S60 T5 but pulled out due to fears of fuel economy. I know it’s never going to be the most economical but I’d want at least 350 miles to a tank ideally. What sort of range are you getting on a full tank? For commuting I do a 28 mile round trip mostly A road. I don’t mind it using fuel if I’m going on a drive out!

Currently have a base spec polestar 2 on order through work but really fancy the S60!

I have a V90 CrossCountry B5 MHEV petrol, and for the highway at 80 mph I usually get around 35 MPG and in a major city with moderate traffic around 25 MPG, but it really depends on the traffic. S60 is lighter, so I would expect slightly better consumption than mine.

Real life mpg for my V60 T6 its 30-32mpg driving carefully over the last 2 years. on a long run it can do up to 40mpg but once you hit town forget about that figure.

It’s only a short journey in town to work it’s mostly a 60mph A road. I think with the figures I’ve seen mostly could get around 350-380 miles on a tank but wanted someone to share what they’ve got.

Thats perhaps not too bad if you’re doing those figures in a T6 V60

I am not sure about the fuel tank size of the S60, but with those trips you mentioned, I think you could easily get 35+ MPG, or even close to 40. The best figure for me so far when I was driving late night on at mostly 50 mph, I got around 38 MPG with the V90 CC.

I am getting on average around 37 mpg on my B5 S60. Around 400 miles per tank.

I think it’s 60 litres so worked out if an average of 30mpg should be about 390 miles.

I guess the hybrid would be more efficient anyway but not sure what difference it would be to the T5

Since owning my T5 I’ve been doing mainly short journeys I.e. 10 mile round trips. The average since owning it from beginning of November is 30mpg. On a long journey 100 miles I got 40mpg keeping to the speed limits or a little above motorways, a roads and some country roads. I’ve got the journal set in the Volvo App. I’ll upload some screen grabs of my trips.

BTW now we’ve got arctic conditions, every journey I preheat the car.

Photos to follow.

Appreciate that helps ease my mind quite a bit thanks! How many miles would you say you’re generally getting on a tank?
