In my MY11 XC70 I had a 3.5mm aux and a USB port, the USB charged iPhone4 and iPod Classic, I just leave the classic connected,
Works that way in my MY15XC70 too.

4. Does the music come out of all 4 speakers?
5. Do the steering wheel controls work? And with 3rd party apps like Spotify?

Thanks!
Hopefully this answers your questions

Hi and thanks so much for taking the time to explain the details of the kit, that's really helpful.

My only question is what happens when you play music using any other music app? Does the music play at all and do the steering wheel controls work with these apps and what is shown on the car screen?

It is a real shame it doesn't charge the phone as that is a bit of a deal breaker for me. What is the adapter you are looking into that would fix this?

Thanks again!

I don't know about other apps I'm afraid sorry.

The power adaptor is something that will plug in and convert the power supply to charge the phone. I can't find one for sale on a link to show you right now but after looking I did find one to do the job, I'm just being slow because it hasn't bothered me much, my phone has a decent battery.

When you plug the phone in it goes to the Apple Music app by default, I don't know how you'd connect an app like Spotify to it tbh.

Maybe someone else makes a more suitable adaptor for you??

Thanks again for your help.

As you can tell, I'm quite fussy with my in-car audio setup

I'll keep looking around (and maybe ask Volvo) about using 3rd party audio apps with this kit. As I have my phone mounted on the dash, I have no need for the on-screen stuff, I just like the idea of being able to use the steering wheel controls and charge the phone all through a single port.

The alternative is to run a bundle auxiliary cable and power cable from the cigarette slot up to the phone, but that means plugging in two cables each time Or use Bluetooth which only comes through 2 speakers due to the bluetooth kit I have.

I'll keep prodding around

I have a 11MY V70 SE with Premium sound, though it's actually an August 2010 car.

The USB port will play and charge iPods and iPhones, and when using an iPhone for other apps (such as Spotify), the steering controls for fast forward etc work.

Hope this helps.
