Apart from the vehicle reg no (original fitting) the dealers should also be able to work with the unit type and serial no. (Sorry - a bit late now that you are running in dismantle mode.)

Your code should be 1216. You enter the code by pressing the numbered buttons. If it's right it will burst into life as soon as you press the 6. If it's wrong don't keep trying.

Glad to be of service I paid £4 for the calculator software on eBay about seven years ago, it's paid for itself several times over.

It is so good to read a post where one member goes out of their way to help another with their wealth of knowledge. Offering their time and experience all for the love of the Volvo marque. Long may it continue.

A 'thank you' from me to Richard TD for his post and the tip about the diode position ect.

Would it now be too cheeky of me to ask for some speaker advice.
I have tried all day to get some sound to the radio unit. I have a menagerie of cut wires as i am putting the original back where an upgrade has been.
Got the powers and earths in ok but can not get any sound. I cant see the amplifier box behind the dash so i assume there isn`t one. I have 2 blue,2 green,2 yellow,2 grey and 1 white coming from the dash
and 1 white, 1 blue and 1 yellow from the unit.
Could it be that the unit was from a car with the amplifier so will not have the wiring for the speakers??? and if so what are the 3 remaining wires from the unit?? or am i being a total plankton and missing something simple.
Again at your mercy Minty

See the round cable second from the left? Thats what normally goes to the speakers via the amp which is tucked in next to the steering column. Its black with silver cooling vanes.
