Default Dont trust ENGEAR

they had my car 7wks, didnt bother to update me on what was going on, put parts on that i didn't authorise. Then wanted to charge me for then.said i had brand new injectors for my engine and i haven't, tried to charge me more but i didnt pay thank god. gave me my car back, my car has broke down twice, due to electrical problems, they wont have it back because they said its not their fault as im only covered for engine warranty. They have taken new parts off my car and put on old ones. I am currently taking them to court. Guys please dont trust them bunch of CHAVS. TRUST ME

ENGEAR have still got my car its been 6 wks today and they will not return my calls or let me know what they are doing with it. i have also written to them and still they will not answer. i have heard nothing but bad reports about them. they done a reconditioned engine as cambelt failure had damaged the engine but my cambelt has broken again .i was told by them that cambelts can last anything from five years to five minutes . they talk rubbish and should not be allowed to trade. they are also know as gearbox engines ltd. people should stay well clear of these people they are a waste of space

As above, anyone thought about contacting Watchdog? Amazing the results as soon as they get on the case...

Looks like at least three members can, unfortunately, vouch for the reputation of ENGEAR.
If you cannot find anything about them via a website, internet or any other advertising and the only contact is a mobile, I would be scepticle about dealing with them.
Hope you get it sorted.

In my experience reconditioned auto boxes from these kind of places rarely last for long before developing some kind of fault . much better to get a used one from a breakers which one must assume has been running ok as they are a reliable unit .

Anyone else think it's slightly strange that 3 people have joined, left comments on this company and never been seen again? Looking around t'web there seem to be quite a few asking about this company but not many replies. Only place I've found a landline and address is on their ebay page which I can post if it'll help.
Smells a little like someone having a go at them for probably no reason tbh.

Default engear

If you are talking about Engear Ltd based Tiffaneys farm, Basildon, Essex. DO NOT give them any money up front. I recently gave them my car to replace the engine, 25 weeks later yes 25 weeks! I eventually got it back, I live in swansea and they took at away and promised a good quick job.
I did use them last year to replace the gearbox and they did a reasonable job, I paid no money up front, however when i got it back there was an oil leak so they took it back to essex and told me it was the turbo (cost £1870!) looking back I dont think it needed doing and am seeking to get a refund.
Back to the engine, like an idiot I paid up front and since then have had one excuse after another, all total rubbish. I turned up at thier garage unannounced after they had told me it was all back together and they were just tinkering with a few little problems. The head was,nt even fitted!
Beware of them, get the quote and exactly what they are doing in writing, they try and do at all over the phone so you have no record.
i am taking them to court, trading standards are involved.
beware
