RE: V70 rear spoiler
Keep it simple is my motto; I find that a spoiler reduces the amount of muck that one gets on the tailgate glass. The wiper arm distracts me...
Hadn't thought about downdraft, but will 0.02 (0.32 - 0.30) make any real difference?
On a practical note spoilers for a classic V70 are easy to fit; they clamp to the hinge assembly. The MkII version requires drilling 5 holes into the top (plastic) of the tailgate. NOT for the faint hearted, but easy thanks to the excellent fitting instructions provided by Volvo.
Volvo now supply spoilers in your colour (previously these were supplied plain). Spraying - if required is not a simple matter of going to Halfords. You need a special plastic primer, colour and varnish Costs about £10 each and should NOT be done in ambient temperatures below 70 deg F. The special paint actually moves when it is curing, so needs to be kept warm. Aerosols are a pain as the spray pattern is poor.... (Just thought I'd mention it)
