Default RE: V70 TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE

Stu

Yes, the water was not that deep so that the intake would be submerged but when I hit the patch of water it was deep enough for long enough to get water into the intake - or so it seems.

As I said the engine stalled and I had a hell of a game to start it again - much banging & clouds of steam ect. Presumably this was when the damage was done.

Another theory being suggested is that the COLD WATER caused the case to split - but that seems a bit of a long shot to me.

What is foxing everyone is the fact that the engine continued to run for a good 200+ miles after the event. I did not notice any loss of performance / rumbling / strange noises.

When it went BANG, I was at about 45-50mph having been cruising at 55-60 previously.

Anyway, I still await the outcome of the Insurance Engineers inspection. I'll post anything thats of interest.

My motto from now on:- BEWARE WATER NO MATTER HOW SHALLOW OR HOW DEEP........

Regards
