Newbie here - to both the forums and Volvo (v50 2.0d).

I like the quality feel of the cabin, understated class par excellence! My previous car was a Mazda 6 which was great to drive - but far too much hard plastic. I considered a new Mazda 6 but the materials and garish nature of the dash and centre console really put me off - the v50 is a much more relaxing place to while away the daily commute.

Oh, and I like not having to remember to switch my lights on on dark mornings ;-)!

Hi everyone. I brought a V50 D5 2009 in January of this year and realized straight away what an idiot i`d been 2 years ago when i part exchanged a V70 T5 for a 4x4 Jeep. What do i appreciate about my Volvo ? Well, perfect ride, good roadholding, fantastic music system, very responsive engine, have i missed anything ?

Loads of reasons:
  • Brutal Mid Range Torque
  • Understated Looks
  • Epic Dyna-audio surround sound soundsystem
  • automatic rain sensing wipers
  • Big Boot
  • Comfy Heated Leather Seats
  • Decent fuel economy (30-35mpg)
  • The look on the faces of Hot hatch drivers just after they've been dispatched to the rear view mirror

Just done 450 miles in the last 24 hours - feel fine.

2005 V50 T5 SE Sport.
Build quality, sound system, basic kit very good on each model & all the "whistles & bells" that you basically get for free if you've let some other mug buy the car new.
Just switched after many years in various VW's - no contest really. Volvo feels like the car you should expect for the money.

You were very lucky, they have dropped the 2.4 D5 now replaced by a 2 litre version with 3 bhp less ! so hopefully a noticable amount more economical .

I like the active bi-xenon lights, they are bright and look fantastic!

Where do i start, I have had my V50 since December and this what I like.

It aint german.
Ow so comfy seats.
The By Xenon Headlamps.
The kit from standard.
The shear grunt of the D5.
The stereo.
The Ride
The Looks inside & out.
The many people who don't realise how quick the car is.

We love our C30, despite a seemingly small boot, without the hard cover it is suprising how much you can fit in. I love the comfy seats in the back and in the front, dual climate control, the road holding and the fact it goes extremely well for a 1.6...indeed, everything except the mpg really.

but how do you fit people who cross you into the boot to drive them out to the forest? They'd fight their way out no probs in a C30 with that rear parcel shelf thing

Approach a C70 from behind in the distance, and it looks like a baby supercar for minute.

It's honestly looks LEAGES ahead of any other convertible.
