Painting the middle of the grille black looks great. Siamblue did that on the grille of his last V40. (red V40 in the middle)

yeah thats it so it looks similar to an egg crate grill from a distance but i think painting the center dose make it look a little more sportier

3 very nice looking x40's!! I was going to paint the waterfall grill on mine but cannot remove the grill from the car because it has rusted in place!! Tried to undo the nuts holding it in place but now the studs are spinning!!

Looks pretty good, do still personally prefer the egg crate grill though

Mine was about £35 on eBay. No chrome edge, just plain black, but looks fine and saved me £30. I got some comments from a couple of bouncers last night when I got back to my car as I shoved the carpet back into place

B1: "Is that a Volvo?"
B2: "Someone's stolen your badge mate"
BM: "Yep, a pheasant. It's meant to be like that. It was just cheaper than a badged one"
B1: "Is it a new one?"
B2: "Is it f**k a new one it's got a 52 plate!"

At least they were talking about it even if it might have been slightly p155-taking. I consider that a successful thrift exercise. Debadging is a talking point.

I still have the Volvo trim off my original crate grille so could stick it back on but I'm currently in the process of de-chroming. (Not by choice, you understand.) I might spray the diagonal spine black and re-fit but I'm hoping The Wife™ can still sort me out with a custom moose badge instead.

My FK Eggcrate was 54 Euros and I used by existing badge - it looks terrific and isnt as fragile as the Volvo one.....recommended....
