I got around to doing the work today after getting the parts together. The biggest stress was finding an allen key big enough but thankfully I had a Halfrauds set. Pictures posted.

Sorry, to clarify, the bump stops are removed by undoing that M10 allen bolt? Presumably one must also remove the springs. My bump stops are trashed and need replacing.

I used spring compressors. Once the springs came out the bump stop and plastic housing came out as well. They just slot in the top of the springs. The allen bolt only holds the spring cap. To replace the bump stop you need to release the plastic clip ( picture with screwdriver). Push the centre lug down and then you can release the clips. Put new bump stop on, push up the clip and then secure by pushing up the locking pin. Hope that makes sense.

Wonderful, makes perfect sense. Many thanks! May I also ask where you got the bump stop replacements from? My searches have only brought up the complete units (perhaps a part number would give more relevant results!)

You dont need spring compressors you can just remove the shock lower bolt and lower the arm with a trolley jack. The spring is held axle side by a clamp and wont go anywhere.

So i could not get enough room with my suspension to just pull the springs out. They needed compressing and apart from the lower cup, I did not notice any clamp. My 855 is one of the later models and I have a lot of early V70 parts on it ( such as a dual mass flywheel) so there may be differences. I got the bump stops from the main stealer. For some reason the paperwork calls it “helper spring” and part number 3516327.

Didn't need to. I had spring compressors already so i used those. It was far easier than dismantling other parts. I realise that you are probably correct and I saw the video the Robert T5 did on the job, so I don't doubt you.
