More something for the Volvo Vandals Club than owners club. As you say there are so few of them that to break a good one is tragic. Breaking should be reserved for cars that are beyond salvation not perfectly good examples simply for financial gain. Perhaps an E type convertible might be the next project or a DB4 GT that would surely break for bundles.

The mods are the majority of the breaking value
How about return to standard, selling the modifications on a standard part return basis? A good standard example will fetch £3k to the right person. £1k for breaking it isn't a good pay when you work out the time involved. You will also end up losing some of your £4k on eBay and PayPal fees. £3k for the car plus the small fortune you will get for the modifications seems far more sensible financially and sentimentally. I do envy your dilemma though! |

The wife said that yesterday, but on the mechanical side of things, i would have to find a standard exhaust, downpipe and cat, plus a 18t turbo, the rest of it would be a doddle to fit, but then i have the task of telling someone, that it was a 285whp car that was put back to standard, it would make people walk a mile, even though the car has only covered 137k miles, just had a new uprated clutch fitted, it has just had a new mot, so i maybe would get 2k for her, she is in really good condition except for the passenger ns door and the rear bumper.
If i took off the easy parts i could, and sold them i would get around £1600 and still have the car to sell, say £2000 max, If i break the car, i would get £4400 plus all of the little bits and pieces, so that would take it over £5k, i am sorry but £1400 isn't to be sniffed at, would some of you guys burn away £1400? infact £1400 is more than i am looking to spend on the V40 lol. Gary.

I agree that yes, it is a shame that such a nice example will be lost but 1, money talks. 2, At the end of the day it is a piece of metal with some plastic and rubber attached.
