It seems to take the DVLA around 4 weeks to process V5C changes. At least that's how long my new V5C took to come through when I got my latest car last October.
Might be worth giving them a ring if you need to clarify anything. They do try genuinely to be helpful on the whole! Cheers Jack |

Just called them: you are right they are helpful.
It will take 2 to 4 weeks from receipt of paperwork. They say because of the age of the car , 1998, they dont need a current MOT or the V70 form, which I believe is motor tax related, neither do they need the current tax disc. Any thoughts on why the reduced paperwork for the car of this age? the person I spoke to wasn't sure Thanks |

Cars of that age are taxed at a flat rate, whereas more recent cars are taxed based on their CO2 emissions.

Just looked up the MOT history from 2006 on line so it all looks okay
this appears in last test in March: 2014 Change of details Type of fuel: LPG recorded at time of test on 07/03/2014 and Advisory Notice issued Nearside Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.5.C.1a) Offside Headlamp deteriorated but light output not reduced (1.7.5a) it failed because of bald tires the first time round in March when this was written abouit the headlight: Offside Headlamp has a product on the lens but not seriously reducing light output (1.7.5a) Does this mean that LPG conversion is recent, since on the DVLA as of today it is not yet updated? Thanks |

Well a CV boot should cost less than £100 fitted, and at worst a new headlight from a breaker shouldn't be too much.
Can only guess at the LPG story though - does the LPG kit under the bonnet look very new? Jack |

Don't know, haven't seen under the bonnet yet. Will ask for pics.
The garage breaks Volvos so the headlamp shouldn't be an issue. Will get the CV done as well as its a regular thing picked up here on the NCTs on our existing 2 Volvos |

Just to say that I got a reasonable insurance quote (in ROI) once they understood that modified was not equal to souped up!
Have asked UK garage to sort out the paper work so thats the next stage, so nothing for 4 weeks maybe. Have asked for engine pictures with bonnet open For now just to say thanks for all the insights thus far. |

Yes, LPG conversion actually reduces the risks to some insurers. They regard LPG drivers as more steady then the average apparently!
