Maybe not to your good self ,but as a lover of real classic cars i have no choice than to wield the sword of truth, a travesty has occured which requires righting ,remember the old saying "all that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing" and in this case evil has arrived in the form of a daf 33

Can we leave it at that please re the 'classic'/'non classic' debate? It's fairly obvious now how people feel and further discourse is only going to lead to sorrow.

according to the government anything registered before 1973 is a classic , regardless of make or model .
i suppose if the DAF were compared to british motors of the 70s , i dare say wed have a stalemate on 'what is a classic' debate . anyway , i think that DAF deserves a proper bike engine some flared arches and wide slicks .

you know about 12 months ago this forum was closed becase there was a minority of people who couldn't express themselves in a civilised way. It was a shame because lots of us use this forum as a technical resourse and we didn't have access to it because of it.
chow, you are of course entitled to your opinion but why be discourteous to mine? The Daf is an important chapter in the development of the 300 and volvo in general and many owners club members here have CVT transmission on their 300's which was pioneered by Daf - indeed the 300 was a development of the Daf where as the Volvo 66 was a Daf 66 with a volvo badge. The reason why I posted the link was for the interest of these members. As to wether or not the car is a classic - that depends on what your interpretation of a 'classic; is. The fact is it was an important early example of a now increasingly common transmission system and part of Volvo's heritage. Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm bothering to respond to you as you clearly have made up your mind on the issue and seem very keen to tell us all about it - several times, ad nausea..... Bottom line is mate the daf 33 was a one awfull car that brought daf to its knees in the mid 70.s, which is where volvo stepped in and bought the company, thats fact , now you can pontificate all you want nothing changes the facts, the car was crap, it cost daf dearly and in no way shape or form can it be considered a classic, get over it .
